Dr. Parra earned his medical license in 2009 after studying medicine at the University of Guadalajara. In the initial two years of his career, he worked as an Assisting Surgeon at Weight Loss Team. He then traveled to Europe and completed a year-long Fellowship at the Autonoma University in Barcelona, Spain, earning a Master’s degree in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, which he applied to bariatrics.
He is the sole surgeon in Puerto Vallarta who holds a Master’s degree. When he came back from his fellowship, he joined Weight Loss Team as a full-time surgeon. In fact, he worked as a full-time surgeon at Weight Loss Team for the last four years. Dr. Parra has also taken the time during these four years to obtain his Diploma and Certification in Bariatric Surgery from the University Panamericana in Mexico City. In 2019, he received this degree. Thereafter, he has been performing Gastric Sleeve Revision, Gastric Sleeve, Sleeve to Mini Bypass and Bypass surgeries, as well as full RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery, for the last three years.
