Dr. Alejandro Lopez is an extremely experienced bariatric surgeon operating out of Tijuana, Mexico as the Medical Director of the “Alo Bariatrics” medical center. Dr. Alejandro Lopez has to date performed over 5,000 bariatric surgical procedures and offers patients expertise in the areas of laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Adjustable Gastric Banding or “Lap-Band,” Gastric Sleeve, Bariatric Revision procedures, and Gastric Plication surgery. Dr. Alejandro Lopez received his medical degree and training from the University of Guadalajara. After completing his studies at the University of Guadalajara, Dr. Lopez embarked upon a residency in general surgery at the Western National Medical Center. IMSS in Mexico and followed his experience there with international training at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in advanced weight loss and laparoscopic surgical techniques. In addition to these fellowships and residencies, Dr. Lopez has acquired skills through postgraduate courses in such topics as endoscopic surgery and laparoscopic lap-band placement. Dr. Alejandro Lopez has been published several times in bariatric and laparoscopic medical journals, proving Dr. Lopez’s highly academic and peer-respected expertise. Dr. Alejandro Lopez is also a member of some of the industries’ most critical organizations including the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery (AMCE), The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Mexican College of Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (CMCOEM) and finally, the Mexican Council of General Surgery (CMCG).
